Senior Project Manager
Description

A project manager leads a diverse team of engineers and support personnel on projects, overseeing all aspects of project execution including developing project plans, schedules, and budgets. He/she analyzes new and complex project-related problems and creates innovative solutions involving finance, scheduling, technology, methodology, tools, subcontracts, and solution components. The senior project manager provides possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments, plans and leads major technology or business assignments.

Responsibilities
  • Establishes goals and plans that meet project programmatic (and often technical) objectives
  • Evaluates performance results and recommends major changes affecting short-term project or business growth and success
  • Functions as an expert across multiple project or business assignments
  • Works directly with customer at the senior level to ensure project objectives are being met
  • Meets with customer and contractor personnel to formulate and review task plans and deliverable items
  • Usually leads a diverse team of engineers and other support personnel (contracts, security, IT/IA, etc.)
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace or relevant field
  • At least 10 years of direct aerospace experience
  • Has domain and expert technical or other relevant knowledge
  • Has led a few multi-disciplinary teams of spacecraft engineers
  • Can work independently and as part of a team of his/her peers
  • Has experience setting and performing to programmatic milestone entrance/exit criteria
  • Has developed summary programmatic progress reports for end customers and company personnel
  • Comfortable presenting to diverse audiences including technical and non-technical experts and peers
Preferred Experience

The ideal candidate should have the following experience:

  • Directly working on multiple spacecraft programs performing system design and/or testing
  • In-depth experience in at least two (2) or more spacecraft subsystems
