Entry-Level Discipline Engineer
Description

The discipline engineer performs engineering activities to meet project objectives and requirements in a particular discipline (RF, optics, mechanisms, astronautics, etc.) including problem definition, design, analysis, requirement development, and implementation for complex systems in the respective engineering discipline. Participates in efforts that develop recommendations and advice on system development, improvements, optimization, or support efforts. Performs work that requires practical experience and training.  Work is performed under supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Participates in all phases of scientific and engineering projects such as research, design, development, testing, modeling, simulating, training, and documentation
  • Devises or modifies methods to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results

  • Works with other engineers and end users to ensure applications meet requirements
  •  Applies fundamental concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignments
  • Develops test software/firmware as needed to prove out concepts, experiments, and final design
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace, electrical, mechanical, communications, optics, physics, or similar engineering disciplines
  • Can work independently and as part of a team of his/her peers
Preferred Experience

The ideal candidate should have the following experience:

  • Worked on at least one spacecraft program performing system design and/or testing
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, developing, and testing a system / experiment in their particular discipline
